SDFA Alumnus Tate Becker earns 2nd Team All Conference Award in the Landmark Conference

November 11th, 2014

Becker was recognized for a breakthrough sophomore season and was voted by the coaches to the 2nd Team in the Landmark Conference.

Goucher Men’s head coach Bryan Laut had this to say: “Tate made an enormous leap as a player this year. He had a major impact on our team with his ability to control the middle of the field and at times allowed us to completely dominate and overwhelm teams. As the season progressed he continued to advance his game, scoring some big goals and becoming more of a leader on the field.”

SDFA Alumni Tate Becker of Goucher College receives the Offensive Athlete of the Week Award

October 13th, 2014

SDFA Alumnus Tate Becker has been announced as The Landmark Conference’s Offensive Athlete of the Week for Oct. 6-12. Tate recently supplied the game-winning goal in Goucher’s 2-0 victory at regionally-ranked Scranton. Becker becomes the first men’s soccer player to earn the conference’s weekly offensive honor since Elijah Lais was recognized on Oct. 3, 2011.

Goucher came into Saturday’s matchup having never won a road match in three previous tries against the first place Royals. Becker quickly got the Gophers on their way to changing that with a strike just 8:09 into the opening half. The goal, his first of the season, was a low line drive from 20 yards out near the center of the box. Scranton, which is ranked seventh in the Mid-Atlantic region by the NSCAA, dropped to 9-3-1 after the loss. Goucher earned its second conference win this season and now stands at 6-5 overall heading into next Saturday’s 1 p.m. home matchup against Drew.
