Arvidson Scores Winner in E.T.

CHICAGO, Ill. – SDFA Alumni Josh Arvidson scored in double overtime to lead the Elmhurst men’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over North Park University.

Elmhurst closed out the season with an 8-7-3. After a scoreless regulation and first overtime period, Arvidson netted the game winner with just 1:28 left to play in the second overtime, scoring off a rebound off a Zach Clements shot.

North Park (10-6-1) outshot Elmhurst 16-15 in the contest, but the Bluejays enjoyed a 9-4 edge in corner kicks.

Nick King earned the shutout in goal by stopping all eight shots he faced. Wesley Woodley took the loss in goal for the Vikings, allowing one goal while recording six saves.


Gnass & Arvidson Lead Bluejay Men Past Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind. – First half goals from Josh Arvidson and Alec Gnass was all the Elmhurst men’s soccer team needed as the Bluejays ended a two-game road trip with a 2-0 shutout win at Anderson University.

Arvidson and Gnass scored just 92 seconds apart in the game’s first 10 minutes to provide the contest’s entire offense. Arvidson struck first, flicking the ball over Anderson keeper Brandon Weer’s head and into the back of the net. Derek Dedman assisted on Arvidson’s goal just 8:28 into the contest.

Gnass padded Elmhurst’s lead to two goals just 92 seconds letter. Nick Fecci worked his way to free space and sent a cross to Gnass for the Bluejays’ second goal of the contest.

Elmhurst’s defense did the rest, outshooting Anderson 13-5 in the game and not allowing the Ravens a shot in the entire second half.


SDFA Alumni Arvidson’s Hat Trick Leads Bluejays To Second Straight Win

SDFA Alumni Josh Arvidson is making an instant impact at Elmhurst college! Elmhurst freshman Josh Arvidson scored all three goals, including an overtime game winner, to lead the men’s soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Simpson.

SDFA BU18 Player Josh Arvidson committed to Elmhurst College

Josh Arvidson, BU18, has committed to play at Elmhurst College which is located just outside of Chicago, Illinois. In July of 2014 Arvidson attended a College Soccer Player ID camp at UNLV. This was the first time he was seen by Head Coach David Di Tomasso. After participating in a recruitment camp, Coach Di Tomasso offered Arvidson a spot in the team, which he accepted.

At Valhalla High School, Arvidson ended the 2015 season as the leading scorer with 20 goals for the Norsemen. He was Valhalla’s MVP for the year and was named to the Grossmont 1st Team All-League.


SDFA Technical Director Johnson Asiedu said: “Josh is a very hard working and disciplined player. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with him. With his athleticism, agility and technical ability, coupled with his work ethic and determination, I know he will succeed wherever he goes. Best of luck Josh!”
