Tousley helps create history with Knox College

Dec 4th 2016

Jaqui Tousljacqui-tousleyey has once again made headlines by helping re-write the history books at Knox College for Women’s Soccer. For the first time in the program’s history, the team earned the title “Midwest Conference Champions” while being the first team at Knox to go unbeaten all season since 1919.

This winning season included their impressive winning streak by defeating all opponents who were put up against Knox College in the Midwest Conference Tournament, thus “doing the double” by becoming the Midwest Conference Tournament Champions as well. This win gave them the automatic qualification into their first appearance at the NCAA National Tournament.

Knox College’s stout defence, which only conceded 3 goals, improved to a record of 19-0-1. This record helped earn the team a National Ranking of #25 and regional ranking of #3.

The team experienced their first loss at the NCAA tournament against last years national finalist Washington University in St. Louis (#8).

Despite the loss, the Woman’s Knox College team broke or tied 7 Records including; leading the nation in Goals Against Average (0.15), being second in Nation for Goals Saved (0.936) and outscoring their opponents 65-3!!

We at SDFA are extremely proud of our impressive alumni, and wish Tousley and everyone luck in their upcoming season.

Gnass & Arvidson Lead Bluejay Men Past Anderson

Arvidson

September 5th, 2016.

ANDERSON, Ind. – First half goals from Josh Arvidson and Alec Gnass was all the Elmhurst men’s soccer team needed as the Bluejays ended a two-game road trip with a 2-0 shutout win at Anderson University.

Arvidson and Gnass scored just 92 seconds apart in the game’s first 10 minutes to provide the contest’s entire offense. Arvidson struck first, flicking the ball over Anderson keeper Brandon Weer’s head and into the back of the net. Derek Dedman assisted on Arvidson’s goal just 8:28 into the contest.

Gnass padded Elmhurst’s lead to two goals just 92 seconds letter. Nick Fecci worked his way to free space and sent a cross to Gnass for the Bluejays’ second goal of the contest.

Elmhurst’s defense did the rest, outshooting Anderson 13-5 in the game and not allowing the Ravens a shot in the entire second half.

Donnie Kevin recorded his second consecutive shutout in goal, stopping the only shot he faced in the contest. Weer recorded three saves and allowed two goals for Anderson while taking the loss.

Landon Donovan Trains With SDFA

by lauren on July 3, 2016 · No comments

On Wednesday 29th June 2016, local San Diego resident and ex-US MNT player Landon Donovan stopped by the Celtic / SDFA Camp to offer his experience and expertise. The ex-LA Galaxy and Everton player was on hand to coach a practice session with some of our SDFA players and even took part in the session.

Landon@SDFA

Donovan is in the process of obtaining his coaching badges and was happy to put his knowledge into practice. The players learned a lot from their time with the ex-pro, and this was a once in a lifetime experience!

We truly appreciate Landon Donovan coming by and taking time out of his busy schedule to lend a hand!!
